Selection Process
Nominations
Becoming a PreachFor America Fellow is a highly selective process. It starts with a strong nomination by someone who has known you well at university—your professor, chaplain, pastor, or campus ministry leader. Upon further screening, you may be invited to submit an application. The following timeline describes the next steps for PreachFor’s 2nd cohort.
Overview of the PreachFor America Fellowship Application Process:
August 1, 2026 - Nominations Open — Nominators make submissions through the PreachFor nomination form. (See below)
August - Applications Open — Nominated applicants submit general information, résumé, transcript, references, essays and additional documents.
Ongoing through late October — Preliminary conversations with interested nominees.
October 31 - Nominations Close
November 6 - Application Deadline
Ongoing through November 15 - Application Reviews
October 1 - November 13 - Interviews (Zoom)
December 4 - 6 - Finalist Interviews (In person) — Each PreachFor America Finalist is interviewed by the full selection committee.
By December 11 - Selection and Offers — Offers extended to qualified candidates and others waitlisted.
January 4 - 15, 2027 - Host Church Matching — Fellows matched with churches.
January 18 - 29 - Church Review and Decisions
February 1 - Final Confirmation of Church Placement — Churches confirm matches are suitable. If the fit is not right, Fellows will be matched with other host churches.
Mid to Late July - Orientation
August 1 - Fellowship Begins

PreachFor liaises with campus collaborators (professors, chaplains, pastors, campus ministry leaders) at colleges and universities across the country. They know suitable candidates, and have an in-depth understanding of the qualities of a successful PreachFor America Fellow.
